Is there a "trans" fuse in the fuse box?

If so, check it.

Mine were not working and found out that it was something to do with my shifter. If I put it in reverse then push the shifter forward they would come on

Don't know if this '94 diagram will help or not. It might be the same as the '93. It does show the manual transmission back-up switch. According to the diagram power to the switch is at pin 2 (Brown/Light Green tracer wire).

Took a screen short of a '93 diagram showing the back-up switch. Different power source.

Just checked F6 with ignition in the "on" position, test light lit on both sides of fuse. Also checked the "trans fuse" both sides of fuse lit the test light. The wires that leave the reverse light were cut at some point as there is no connector. But the wires go to two wires that come down from the fuse block in the engine bay. The wires from the fuse block come from a bigger bundle of wires, then go on the side of the engine by the oil filter, then down past the starter to where they meet up with the wires from the switch.

Seeing as how my jeep is 23 years old and the PO wasn't very smart, I'm thinking that I probably should replace the reverse switch anyways. But at the same time, I know that this won't necessarily solve the problem.
