Default Replacing Rear Transmission seal?

I am going to replace the transmission seal on the rear of my stock, 1995, 2wd, XJ.

I plan on removing the driveshaft to do it but when I pull the yoke or output

shaft, (not sure the correct terminolgy)out of the transmission is there any

chance of anything happening that wont let me put it back in?

Also, Should I replace the trans mount at the same time? The rubber seems a bit soft.

Thanks.

funny, i have a 95 2wd XJ as well! You can take the driveshaft completely with no problems getting it back in. I have to replace U-joints. Also, if it was me id replace that mount while youre already down there. Post up pictures and keep everyone updated. I want to see how this goes being i also have a rear main seal leaking.

Good luck!

Onewheel,
i did the seal last night, sorry no pics, For the most part its easy. Mark the relationship between the driveshaft and rear yoke so the driveshaft can be installed the same way it came out.
Remove the 2 U joints straps at the rear diff., but first look at them and move the driveshaft/rear yoke to a positing so you can get to the bolts on the u joints with an open end by. (I coulndnt get a socket on them until they came out a bit)
Place something under the driveshaft at the back and the front so you have a place to set it on, like a few boxes. After you pull the straps off, push the whole driveshaft forward into the transmission, it will slide on the slplines, then that will clear it from the rear u joint then pull back, The driveshaft is not as heavy as it looks, then set it down. On mine only a little fluid came out, I dont know how much should really come out, maybe place a pan under the trans just in case. My trans was missing a dust shield and I think a rubber boot. Pry out the old seal, tap in the new one,( Found that a 1 1/2 PVC coupling works perfect for installing the new seal) The old one was not bottomed out into the trans, maybe thats why it leaked, So I went ahead and bottomed mine out into the trans, IF THATS NOT RIGHT, SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME? Then reverse the procedure to install the driveshaft. The part number I used was National 710319 from Oreilly. Theres also a bushing behind the seal inside the trans that you should look at, if its worn then it should be replaced also. Mine was recently replace so I did not have to replace it.
