Default replacing fogs...

hi ya'll, been kicking around the idea of replacing my factory fog lamps. what i'm not sure about is upgrading to 100~130 watt lamps. factory fogs are 50 or 55 watt, right? so what might be involved with upgrading to the kind of lamps i want? or is it simply swap 'em out using the existing wiring, or are we talking about a major project here?
thanks for yer thoughts and input.
jeff.

Bigger fog lights will not fit the factory location...you will have to do some fabrication.

If you have too bright a light, all you will get is reflection back at you. Like your high beams already do in fog. You actually have poorer visibility.

You should probably just leave them alone and look around for something else to do.

Update: I just ordered a pair of KC Slimlites #125 with the installation kit.

The guy at Quadratec said they fit a stock bumper and grille without modifications.

They are only 2 1/4" thick total. They are fog lights. KC also makes driving and spot lights in this style.

Not cheap but they have a 23 year warranty and a heavy duty wiring kit and relay.

hey thanks for the responses firestorm, looks like i'll have to save up for a while before i can get a set from them. i'm hoping to change them over (from fog to driving lights) before winter sets in, but now i don't know, we'll see...

It seems to me you would need fog lights worse in winter. Longer periods of poor visibility and longer hours of darkness.
