How hard is it to replace the A/C compressor? I searched but I didn't see any info on how to actually replacing the thing. Looks like it just a couple bolts but what about the refrigerant lines?

My clutch/pulley sounds really bad and I suspect it's only a matter of time before it seizes.

I was going to just swap it out with a JY one because I'm too concerned about it working.

 

To actually replace the compressor is easy although you will need to suck the old refrigerant out. With a new compressor make sure you change the orifice and receiver dryer. Then you have to have a pump and gauges to put vacuum on the system to suck out the moisture.
Then you can properly fill the system with the new refigerant . If you dont have the proper tools i would suggest taking it to a shop, you might spend more money just getting the proper tools if you are only going to do this one time.

 

Four bolts and it comes off. To be environmentally safe, have it evacuated. It doesn't have to have anything else done to it if you don't plan on using the AC. You can always use it for onboard air also with very little work.
