got my 2000 out of storage.. low end knocking a little..
i have noticed since i got my 2000 out of storage that the lower end of the engine is quite loud...knocking and tapping a little then going away..I use 10 w 40 oil as of now...any ideas??? I know this is normal on the 4.0 but i just want some input..

Drop the pan and pull a couple main journal and connecting rod bearings. Safe bet that you'll find copper visible on the top bearings for the connecting rods and on the lower half of the mains.

damn.. I hope not.. at 83k?? my sister got her xj new in 2000.. her jeep has had the same noise since she got it..I changed the oil before i garged it and left 1/4 tank of gas in it when it was stored for 3 months.. I really doubt its bearing failure..I will drop the oil pan this spring and check it out though..thanks for the input..
