Well the only reason I ask was cause thats what one of the instructors. At my school where i'm going for auto tech told me thats what it was but obviously not because hooked it up and still same problem I am still waiting on a voltmeter From my buddy so I can test the tps but i'm un able to do the manual shift test because i'm not able to get the tranny down to first gear for some reason when I put it in reverse the indicator says its in neutral when I put it in neutral its says its in drive when I put it in drive it says its in 3rd and when I shift into 3rd it says its in 1-2 and it wont let me go lower....

You never reported back on what happened when you pulled the TCM fuse. This is really important for the group to know. Also please use punctuation in your posts or us older guys go nuts!!

67 GMC, I agree about capitalization and punctuation making it easier to understand what's truly going on.
Read this sentence with proper capitalization and punctuation and then read it again without. See how someone could get the wrong message?
Yesterday, I helped my Uncle Jack, off a horse.

I physically cannot get the tranny down into 1st gear.shifter goes to 3rd and I can't shift any lower. So when I put the shifter selector to first i'm actually in 3rd.

There's a lot of guys on here with more experience then me, but I would be checking the TPS and the TCM. You can back probe the TCM connector to see if it's getting the signal from the selector to fire the right solenoid to change the gear. Your very first post you said :"I will say that I had to get a new shifter cable to go from the shifter to tranny and I pulled one from a h.o motor and it was alot shorter than the original I don't know if that would be an issue or not the tranny is also one I got from a junk yard ". If your shifter cable is too short, that could be the reason you can't "physically" move the transmission past first but I still don't know from your posts how it drives when you move the selector.
I'd still suggest you try pulling the TCM fuse first, move the selector in all gear ranges and report back on your observations. Some TPS voltage readings would give some information back to the group as well.
Have a look at this link-it talks about the TCM

OK-So, how do you know the transmission is in 3rd? Are you saying when the selector is in 1 and you push down on the gas, the Jeep barely moves like it's in too high of a gear? And the same thing happens when you are in 3 or D?

That shifter cable thing sent up a red flag to me when I first read it. I think you're on the right track. OP, get the right cable in there.
