Default Renix only intakes and other boltons

my renix is slow and completely stock. and completely slow
it has a hickup at idle but otherwise runs perfect.

Do intakes make power on the renix system? i know it does on the HO motors...

Also whos running a header and whats it sound like on the RENIX.

I know its slow but I want it to at least sound decent i was planning on running an intake, a free flowing header, no CAT and flowmaster exhaust.

I cant find anything for it. And if there out there, whos got a nice sounding gargly RENIX with the mods i mentioned post up vids!

Is this a dd or trail rig only?
If it is a dd you have to have the cat on for it to be legal.

If you are gonna change the intake find a complete top end (head, intake,tb) probally find one in the jy for about the same price of the header. jmo

as far as i could find in my searches Pacesetter is the only company making a header for the Renix 4.0L, i cant really tell ya much on performance gains at this point as i just got it bolted up yesterday and ran into the forwarned fitment issues with the Y-pipe but that will be an easy fix with a flex coupler....but i dont have any money for that so it'll be atleast a week till the exhaust get put in

they are few and far between but there are guys out there that make bored out Renix throttle bodies, or you can hit the wrecker and do your own,or if you are into a crap load of work swap to a late model intake but thats a fair project.

as for cold air intake no one makes on that i know of but its as easy as a 3" piece of exhaust tubing a few fittings and a cone filter

and of course a more free flowing exhaust will give it a more throaty sound, im running 2.5" cat back.....magnaflow hi-flow cat with a flowmaster hushpower

as for ideas on sound heres my 89 Renix 4.0L

-3" cold air intake
-2.5" Cat back(mentioned above)

ill get a vid with the header once i get things bolt up

You have to be kidding me. I am sure he knows thats its not legal to run with no cat. How come every time some mentions a cat people get all crazy and tell people how illegal it is. Why can't you guys just leave people alone. I dont care and I know many people who do not have them. No inspections no problems

cant remember cause i repo'd the cat off a buddies jeep(he owed me money), the muffler was about $150CDN and i think the whole install with the custom bent tail pipe cost bout $75CDN but i had it done through an exhaust shop that my shop sent work to so hard to say what it would really cost

For anything other than off-road use only, it is ILLEGAL to not have a cat. Besides, why not run one, it provides you with BACKPRESSUE? A dynomax cat back exhaust system will be the cheapest, unless you can get it done cheaper at a good exhaust shop.
Jeeps are bricks. They were not meant to "go fast" There are really only 2 options to "go fast" 1. a stroker, 2. V8 swap.
