Oh wow. This one may take me a moment. I took it camping yesterday, we went to Forest CA for an over nighter. It’s ran awesome the way there. It felt a little sluggish. Had some sputtering. I had some free time and checked the tps and noted I was off a little. So I readjusted and it was super sluggish, popping and sputter. I’m letting it cool down now then checking it again and possibly redoing once more.

Readjusted, still sputtering and back firing. I have to find that sweet spot in the throttle. And it constantly feels like I’m towing a load.

Not yet. I apologize. I’m still wrapping my head around this brain damage stuff. I find myself rereading your instruction ten times, doing it wrong and redoing. I can’t afford to mess this me up. So I’m planning on taking my time with this one. I just need to make time with this being my daily driver. Thank you so much for your patience. I hope your enjoying the holiday.

Hey thinking about it I may have pull the distributor I’m using out of a 1991. I had a 1991 parts car and I want to say I remember swapping the distributor because the previous one had a lot of slop. Mine being a 1990 could that be the problem?

Doing the indexing as I type. Waiting for a family member to drop off the gasket from the parts store. (Going to have to wait for the O-ring to arrive). I will let you know how it runs as soon as I’m finished.

im really hoping this wasn’t pointless. My wife had to remind me we installed the distributor out of our parts Jeep we had at the time. Which I believe was a 1991

I finished the indexing. She runs proper now. No more sputtering or backfiring. But it does tend to jerk on take off and stretch the gears like it doesn’t want to shift.

I attempted to install a tachometer so I may pay attention to symptoms at rpms. And to simply have a tac. I tied into the green and black off of the icm, the brown at the steering column and into the the negative terminal at the battery. I ended up with a bunch of fluctuation. I’m at a loss on it.

No need for a tach at this point.

Do you know why it would fluctuate like that? Defective gauge?

I don't know. Likely not the source of your issue and is leaning dangerously toward frying something.

After market tachs that I've seen have a sensitivity adjusting screw since they don't know how poorly shielded nor how strong is the signal they will be fed.
