Renix F/I
My '87 XJ never has idled right, frequently won't hot start properly, so I took the throttle body apart, cleaned the throat and throttle plate, cleaned out the idle motor at TPI with brake cleaner, now the thing "idles" at 1900 rpm. Upside, nice cruise speed, acceleration from 1900 much smoother than before.
BUT, I wonder if cleaning the idle speed controller buggered it up, or if it just wants more cleaning?
TIA

Check all of you vacuum lines for leaks. Check the MAP sensor. Check your TPS and IAC. Get your volt meter out. Since it only started idling higher after you took the throttle body apart and cleaned it, I'll bet that the IAC is buggered up.
