Default Recipe for best flex

So I came across this page: http://www.tntcustoms.com/page.asp?pageid=155

"If you want monster flex, you need to stick to as flat of a rear spring as possible. Excessive arch can work against you. Better results can be obtained for a 5.5" lift as follows: RE 3 1/2-inch leaves + 1 1/2-inch shackles + 1/2-inch UBolt Eliminators = 5.5-inch net lift"

Would you guys agree? And will a front suspension flex better w/a coil only, or coil/spacer combo?

leaf springs are different than coils. ideally you'd want a long somewhat flat leaf spring for best flex and ride. the bigger the arch, the worse they will be.

coil wise, i really have no idea if there is a difference between full lift coils or lift coils with spacers.

quoted from that site:
"The UBolt Eliminator was designed to add a small amount of lift to your leaf spring vehicle while keeping everything above the differential tube. Doing so allows for an extremely clean install and a hang up free setup "

now who the hell has ever gotten hung up on something because their u-bolts dragged too much... seriously wtf they're not even a half inch off the bottom of the axle tube

lol that site should design a differential elliminator

in theory, coils will flex better than coils and spacers, but in practice theres no difference really. best thing to help flex is bumpstops since it forces the other side down. of course thats after you eliminate the resistance of all your hard parts... meaning you have flex joints in your arms, a good trackbar, and your steering isnt binding. oh, and shock length and brake line length as well.

I have a RE 3" + 2" puck/shackle in the front & I'd have to say I feel that a smaller coil w/puck is the way to go as a larger coil tends to be stiffer thus less upward flex! Now in the rear my leafs have settled in nice but I'm gonna go with the teraflex revolvers that will alow about 5"s of droop!!!

larger coils tend to be less stiff since theres more room in the coil to soak up upward momentum. and revolvers?

I use all 8" of travel in my rear shocks, I'm getting just about 5" down.

Not a good idea!! There have been many threads about the downside to the Revolver Shackles. They were in an issue of one of my off road mags as one of the WORST mods available on the market!!

yeah, i'd never in a billion years use revolver shackles. my leafs allow more than enough flex for me.

YA REVOLVERS!!! Don't knock em tell u've tryed them! Lol really the coil length doesn't matter its more about what the coil is rated for weight wize! in upward travel it comes down to weight rating & if my 3" coil & ur 8" coil are at the same rating then urs would need more weight to fully compress as u have more of the same diametor spring to compress!!! Correct???
