Well i figured out what all the grinding noise was. to put it simple my rearend is toast.
so Im looking to replace the d35 with either a 8.25 or d44, a 8.8 would be nice if i can find one setup for leafs. I need some sugguestions on what i should do. if i got a d44 or something that was setup for disc brakes. is it hard to setup? iv nvr done brakes before. I know the actual swap should be easy. just gotta find one with the same gear ratio and its bolt in.

8.25 and d44 are about the same strength, so i would recommend a 8.25. If you have access to tools or know a shop that does, an 8.8 would be a good axle if you plan on going bigger than 33's
Try searching for disc brake swaps, lots of write ups.

Id go with whatever is more available in your area. I've heard some people find more of one vs the other depending on region.

I would go 8.25 just cause they are easy to obtain. I got mine free with a broken pinion, easy fix, easy swap. Unless it came out of an XJ it wont be a direct swap. (Some other Jeeps axles will also swap). Good luck
Again, region dictates how readily available each rear will be. I'd do some shopping, you may get surprised.
