Hi everyone,
I've looked all over the internet and a bunch of shops and have not found the attachments for my 99 xj's rear Shocks. In replacing the shocks I broke 2 heads off and got the other 2 out. Also I broke the axle attachment on the bottom of the shock.
First thing where can I get replacement parts? The shock kit I have does not have new ones.
Second thing is how can I get the broken bolts out without tearing apart the interior?

To answer your second question. Knock out the broken studs with an air hammer...or a hammer and punch if that's all you have.
. you can replace them with bolts and washers or the plates with stud that are available.

What exactly do you mean by " broke the axle attachment on the bottom of the shock" ? Did you snap the end of the stud off?
For the upper:
The lower mount will depend on what broke off.

The only solution is to remove the remains somehow & replacements are available from Summit. If you resort to cutting it of flush & drilling the "head" out, a possibility is drilling a hole through it the same size as the threaded section & simply using a bolt.

I broke half of the threading on the bottom nut. Came off in the nut.
Broke half the threads off cam off in the nut.

Didn't know those lower pins were welded in though, I'd assumed they were pressed in, so that's saved me a lot of grief when I get round to fixing mine - although it'll cost me a fortune in drill bits.

We know what's broken - but not where, although I'm struggling to understand the relevance of that. As I see it, if it's broken, it has to be replaced.

Quality bits, oil and good technique make the job easy.

Thanks for everyone's help. The new shock is in. I drilled out the old bolts in the top and took out the old threads. I bought a new thread bracket insert online and mounted the top of the shocks to that. Then the bottom part I cut the remainder Flush and drilled up to a 7/16 drill bit. Then I took a 12m x 1.75 tap which is factory size and threaded the hole. After that I put a new bolt in. I used a 12m x 1.75 bolt that was about 2.5 inches long with a shoulder. I let some threads come out the other side and put a nut on for safety.
