Default Rear Seat Belts

Hey all I'm new to this forum and have a question about reattaching my rear seat belts. I redid my headliner and got everything put back together OK but I noticed with my rear seat belts theres a black part that sticks out above the bolt hole and seems like it will stick through my headliner. I know where the hole is to screw in the bolt but when I start tightening the bolt the black part starts to push through the headliner. I didn't want to tear my new headliner after all that work and it seems like it wouldn't be right like that. I'm at work now but I'll get some pics up when I get home. I was just wondering if anyone had any pics of the rear upper seat belt attachments in their jeep. Especially with the cover part of it folded down so I can see the bolt hole and the part that extends above it. Mine is a 96 cherokee sport. Thanks for any help.

Yeah all the pics I have been able to find don't show one either...i'll take a pic of it when I get home to show ya....I'm sure it's obvious I just wanted to ask before I screw it in and have that part go through the headliner. Replaced the headliner with no issues though

Was it some kid of coat hanger? Cause my jeep doesn't have those..can you hold it with a pair of channel-locks and back the blot out and get it off?

OK I got it figured out...shouldve dug around a lil more before I posted. I reached up behind my headliner and there is a little hole above the bolt hole that feels like where the end of that is supposed to go. It's weird though because I can't feel a hole in the actual headliner, but no worries thanks for your help man.

What year rear seat belts will fit a '96? 84-96? I need the hardware too and not sure if it's the same from any earlier years. Nothing 97 and newer will work; correct?

They weren't used until 91 in USA, My 88 had all the attaching points on the body though.

Ok do I release the belts to install. They are retracted and locked. I remember when I did the front Ines years ago I had to line up a ball bearing or something so they would release.
