Worst case is you'll have to replace the o-rings. Heck, we know you can get the bolt loose!!

So far so good on the oil leak! Like I said, I tightened the oil filter and it seemed to do the job, are the 4.0's know for the filters to come loose or is this something I should keep an eye on and think about doing the adapter?

Next question: I installed the trans cooler, Hayden heavy duty from rock auto, would it make the trans shift a whole lot smoother? I don't want to jinx it but it sure does seem that it is, not that it was shifting hard just feels smoother, maybe it's just me? Idk, thanks again for all the help and tips! You guys/gals are great!

OIL FILTER ALERT.

If an earlier filter was accidentally installed on your 4.0, it will unscrew right off while driving. The 87 to 90s had a 20mm thread on them where the later ones had a 3/4" thread. Threads on and seems okay, but will loosen up.

Maybe I'm missing something, maybe I put the wrong filter on? Do you have a part number for the mopar filter for a '96 4.0?
