Default Rear end hum

Hello all, I have this "hum" noise coming from the rear, it almost sounds like when a truck has big nobby tired and you hear that hum, I just changed out the rear drums and while checking everything, I spun the spindles and feel like a small vibration or like going over rumble strips at the toll booths but a lot lighter, hard to describe, trying my best lol, a friend of mine thinks it could be the bearings? Are the spindles supposed to spin freely or is there some sought of drag on them? Thanks for any help!

Change the rear diff fluid and see if there is any metal shavings in it. That'd be the first thing I'd want to rule out.

I was thinking that being the po had no service records, I just did a 350 mile trip into the "mountains" and it didn't get any louder, I'll try that first and report back, thanks
