Default rear end clunk when braking

Ok so when i brake really hard i get an odd clunking noise. I originally thought it was the tires contacting the plastic splash guard on the front wells. (not a lot of clearence when i stuff them) My windows were stuck up for a little bit so i never heard the noise from the outside. First time i got the windows working, i noticed the noise is coming from the back end. It sounds almost exactly like a tire hitting a plastic edge and it slows when i slow down. I'm thinking its because the rear end lifts up when you brake and maybe my driveshaft is binding or something. I havent been able to replicate the noise offroad when drooping the rear so idk. Any thoughts? thanks

If you still have the tailpipe, it could be hitting your shock.

Yeah but it's very uniform with how fast I'm going. If anything, the exhaust is hitting the crossmember. I had to fabricate the tailpipe mount and I know it's not hitting.

Loose u-bolts?

Best bet is get under it with a pry bar and start trying to move stuff around.

It could be the u-bolts. I have one new one on either side and one stock one. The stock ones barely fit. I have tried the crowbar and didn't find anything that was loose.

I'd check the torque on them, it's easy and good insurance. If they are loose and your axle is moving around on the leaf spring usually you can see marks on the spring.

Another thing to look at is the leaf spring bushings.

I know the leaf spring bushings are good because the springs are almost brand new. I'll replace the crappy ubolts and see what happens. thanks

you said it's determined on how fast you're going?
pull the drums and see if you have a broken brake spring.
have a good look at the rear shoes too.
