Rear brake problem.
If I were to plug off my left rear brake would it really effect the stopping power of the brakes?

losing a rear brake wont really cause a noticeble pull.. now, losing a brake in the front will cause a pull so hard the steering wheel can be past 90* in most cases. been there done that & dont wanna do it again..
how the hell would u plug it off anyway? moderate stops from 50-0 can bring the fluid psi past 1200psi. if whatever u plug it with fails, u get 0psi, ur pedal goes straight to the floor and u have no stopping power even if u pump the brakes. the factory brakes are already bad enough when theyre working right.
fix the brakes or dont put it on the street, plain & simple.

There are two types of brake systems. Horizontally split and diagonally split. On a horizontally split system if the rears fail the fronts will still work (or vice versa). On a diagonally split system each bowl in the master cylinder operates one front and alternating rear so you will have front and rear braking in case of failure or leak. Older Xjs like mine are horizontal it would work on them but newer Xjs with ABS and diagonal systems I wouldn't recommend it. Its very unsafe.

You have a 95 Cherokee? What rear end? If an 8.25 it's super easy and cheap to convert to discs without a kit.
