Either you brake light switch is out of adjustment or needs to be replaced also check the wiring at the switch to see if they haven't melted and are making contact causing the lights to stay on.

Check if you have trailer wiring hook up its a very troublesome area.

this is going to sound crazy... but go outside... do not turn your engine on..

put the key in the ignition.. and push it in and out of the ignition really fast..

all the way in... all the way out.. see if this makes your brake lights go off

This sounds like that old joke, "Hey did you know they removed the word "gullible" from the dictionary? I'm not kidding, check and see."

lol I was out of ideas.. so I did a quick google... and some kid on another forum or "ask a question" site did this.. and it worked for him... then other guys chimed in and said it worked for them too!

like I said.. it might sound crazy.. and I have no idea why it would do anything... but I'm out of ideas!

Is the brake pedal pushing the switch plunger thingy far back enough? Mine was bent and there was space between the switch plunger so I just took para cord and wrapped it around the brake pedal till it made contact.

Disconnect brake light switch and jump the harness see if light go out as soon as you pull the jumper. Renix brake light switches do not have plungers like others do. Better yet pull up on pedal do they go out ?
