Default Rear Bar Pin Eliminators

This came up when i was searching for something else and it looks like an interesting idea if you want to use 'normal' shocks....

I remember coming across this writeup awhile ago, at the time my XJ was unlifted and still had factory shocks so I was like "I don't need to do this", but now I put up with the dreaded "shock thump" whenever I hit the trail! I did remove my rear sway when i lifted it though so now this really has my attention, I may end up doing it tonight as I'm headed out for some wheelin tomorrow. Thanks for bringing this back to my attention!

Just the distance from the upper shock eye to the mounting surface...maybe an inch.

for the amount of time involved i could have went to 4 wheel parts and picked up a set of true bpes that wont break under stress. they maybe give you and inch to 1.5 inches more

its not the distance there its the fact that u no longer have a rear stabilizer that allows u to flex more and i honestly dont know the answer to that cus when i eliminated my stabilizer i added 5 inches of lift

So in your opinion, you think this is a waste? I'm trying to get as much flex for my rear as I can. While not breaking the bank of course!

i think it would be more important to move the shock mounts draggin under the axe to the top so you gain clearance AND add like 5 dang inches to travel with shocks... if you did that you could run stock length shocks i would think...

I did them a while back. I have them front and rear. You can see them in the first pic on my build thread:

I read somewhere about extending the bar pin elims ....by using some square tubing or a couple of washers when you mount them.

I ended up doing them some time later, can't recall when exactly. I was getting an annoying thump from my rear shocks after lifting my XJ. I realized it was because they were able to move side to side slightly on the bar pin. So I did the BPEs exactly as the lunghd article outlined it and it worked great, no more shock thump. And it was quite easy to do, took 30 minutes maybe to do both rears.
