RC Shocks (Hydro 8K)?
OK so every other shock I have ever had will extend by itself. The RC shocks do not- not sure why. Are they defective or do they just work differently than the other shocks I have dealt with. Should they not extend all the way if not installed? I am just wondering, because most "new" shocks I ever got came with a wire bracket to hold them closed for shipping. Not so with the RC shocks- they seem to stay at whatever height you pull them to- if you push them all the way compressed, they stay that way. You pull them all the way out, they stay that way... Made it more difficult to install as normally you compress the shock then put it into position and it will extend itself to fit. With the RC shocks I had to manually pull them out to fit.
I am wondering if that is why my ride is so rough. I can't even drink my coffee if I'm on the road driving more than 30MPH as it is so bouncy...
HELP!
I'm seriously thinking of getting some Bilsteins. I had Bilsteins in my Corvette and they were great.

I've heard Jason even say that their shocks aren't that great. It would be smart to invest in some Bilsteins.

What about the Skyjacker shocks? Are they the same as the RC ones (cheap) or slightly better? Bilsteins are great but run about $350 for the set of four. Anyone know where the cheapest place for them is? I really don't mind a but of bumps and lumps- it is a lifted Jeep after all, and I was hoping the ride would settle a bit (have about 1K miles since install now)- but it seems to have gotten more "bouncy" and less harsh. The harsh was OK because it would take a bump and give a jolt, now it gives a bump and bounces, and bounces and bounces...
I had a headache this AM on the drive to work and by the time I got to the office I was in serious AGONY.
Who besides Bilstein, Rough Country and Skyjacker make shocks for 4" lifted XJs?

Look up the lunghd (sp) guy he used monroe gasmatics for a budget 4' lift. I think the fronts were for a f150, the rear I cant remember.
