How many quarts to do your 18 coats? I'm thinking about trying this out. What did you thin the paint with? Do you wet sand all the way to 2000 grit every 3 coats? How is this stuff for fading? Did you clearcoat it?

Roll it on man! Thin out your alkyd paint till it's like milk. Use a 4 inch high density roller and get rollin! Wet sanding with 600 grit every 3 coats. Then 800 grit.. Then 1500 then 2000. 18 coats in total. Whee!

The weapons.. Valspar industrial enamel. $10 a quart. Paint thinner and rollers. Beer optional.. Weather here was 20* F. Ran the garage to 65*.

Oh and how has that Valspar held up over the nearly two years since you painted your XJ?
