The finish is smooth. I have been wet-sanding with 1500 and 2000 grit and the finish is smooth as glass. Gonna REALLY shine when I cut it with polish and some fresh wax in a few weeks.

HAHA... thats awesome. we did that same thing to an old S-10 a long time ago. It took two weeks to do it all. Only bad thing was there were a few spots that did not get sanded properly and it came right off when we buffed it. he ended up sanding all the bad spots and splattering herculiner on the bad spots. it looked like permanent mud globs. LOL I am planning on some herculiner work on my rig in the not to distant future.

Man, I totally can't wait for a pic of the final look. Now i'm itching to do this myself on my old beater.

How long did it take each paint application to dry before you could safely wet-sand it?

my friends and i did a cheap rattle can job on our cherokee. we used 96 cent cans from wal mart. it looked pretty good and held up surprisingly well at first but as it sits in the sun it starts to crack all over. i would deffinatley say roll it on. my bro rolled the hood of his explorer and had no problems with it at all

Primed and ready for paint...but now I like it just primed, so that is the way it stays for now. Duplicolor primer, 3 coats, no waiting in between coats, started at front and walked around the car 3 times. Took about 5 hours worth or prep, and about 1 to prime (including all 3 coats!)

Alrighty. Finally got around to shooting some pictures yesterday. I really REALLY need to slap on another coat of wax. I used some old bottle of Turtle Wax I had laying around. I will hit it with my Tech Wax2000 and power buffer this weekend. It's already amazingly shiny and deep. But more is better! I would say the the shine and depth are vastly better then my factory '99s black finish.

I hand brushed the door, door sills, hatch trim and hood trim with straight-from-the can paint and foam brushes. Need to finish herculining the bottom door-sills though. Will maybe get another can this weekend.

Also planning on fabbing up a new front bumper and rack for the top. Not sure yet. Depends on my schedule.

Onward to my pathetic pics. Got all the trim put back on and even got new decals. I didn't get any "Sport" decals though. Decided not to. It says sport on the title though.
