Don't you guys think #3 looks a little too clean? Because of the antifreeze running down to it and steam cleaning it?

I don't think so.

Hard to tell from the photo due to quality, but the center electrodes all look a little rounded to me.

Actually, it's not "people hair-splitting": Chrysler issued a TSB instructing dealers to use the NGK plugs citing longevity issues. I think that carries some weight!

Sounds like you're having some fun. Got the flux capacitor charged up?

Agreed, gap'm, then take Ken's advice when it's time to change them.

You could "nerd out", and keep accurate mileage figures before, and after!

Thumbs down

I run NGK Iridium plugs in my '87 and '92. With the gap they came with out of the box. I don't think you are supposed to mess with them because you can damage that center electrode wire. I did check the gap, and they were all within a few thousandths of each other.

As I have said before, I detest Champions, mainly due to early and premature failures in more than one vehicle.

Never a problem with NGK. They are in there for 100,000 miles. Yes, I did use anti-seize on them.

Remember folks, Autolite is owned by FRAM. Yes, those same folks that make those high-quality oil filters.

Not.

They also own Airtex.

Their parent company owns Champion labs, and Hefty the trash bag people, lol.

I had no idea of all those affiliations with Fram. Champion labs makes good filters and I've never had an issue with Autolite plugs, many issues with Champions and a few with Bosch. I've never had a trash bag cause an automotive related failure either. As far as the TSB, it's for longevity not performance so there's no reason not to continue running them till they're worn.

Champion Labs will make retailer's filters to that company's specs.

So, they'll make crappy ones for STP and good ones for Mopar.

Their trash bags are probably made better than their Fram oil filters.

I had the oe suggested replacement champions in my xj for about 10k before checking them due to a cold start misfire. they all looked like ****. proper gap, no irregularities other than simply looking worn out. I swapped to the zfrn483892nejkhrjekwsd suggested NGKs 30k miles ago and have had no problems. I'm an NGK fan, as well. however, the only spark plug I've EVER had fail out of the box was an NGK. I've changed a lot of spark plugs in my day, but I will still use an NGK plug if possible regardless of application.

They know you're going to throw the crummy filters away, so they sell you the trash bags. That's just smart marketing there, lol.
