My 1995 Jeep Cherokee SE with a 4.0 liter and 112,000 miles just began doing the following: I am driving around air conditioning on it dies. I pull off the road and it tries to start but, its like either its not getting fuel or there is no spark. I shut it off, wait 1-2 minutes and it fires right back up no problems and I go home the rest of my way.
It can be quarter tank, half tank, or full tank, I can be doing 35 or 55, does not matter.
For some reason I am thinking crankshaft position sensor, but I am NOT getting a check engine light

The crank sensor only sets a check engine light about 25% of the time in my experience with this failure.
It could be this. They can be tested (search) but testing will likely not be of any value unless you test when your XJ doesn't start.
If you replace the crank sensor, do yourself a big favor and buy a genuine MOPAR sensor from Jeep. Aftermarket crank sensors are very "hit and miss" with a whole lot of miss.
