The radio and heater in my 96 xj only work sometimes when you turn the key on theyll work but when you start it they will come on when they want i think maybe a relay i checked the fuses theyr all gud thanx

not sure, but owners manual says " note: if your radio exhibits erratic memory loss, look under the hood in the power dist center, be certain that the IOD fuse[#17} is firmly seated. not sure what,if anything, this has too do with the heater though? Try "tapping" the heater motor if it does not work, does it start up then? wiggle the wire connectors at the fire wall area, just sounds like a poor connection.

Im not for sure about your year of xj but my heater on my 2000 relied on my vacumm to operate and when I took a look under the hood I noticed battery acid ate through my vacumm hose which of course screwed up my heater operation. I actually had failure to my cruise control and other instruments that relied on my vacumm relay. After I repaired the hose everything worked again. Not promising though that it will be that same for older models such as yours...

That always worked on my '94 Tercel
