Default radiator question

I was just wondering if any one knows how hard it is to remove the plastic side on the radiator this way you can see what needs rodded out. When I was a kid we use to heat the side of the radiator with a torch remove it clean it then soder it back to gether. was hoping it was that easy.

Unless u have the tools, know how/experience, probably best to let a rad shop remove/re-install the tanks from/to the core.

well theres no rad shop in my area, unless I want to drive 50 miles, from what I see there is just metal tabs to bend out, and was wondering what kind of seal is in it.

I've seen some use simply a gasket, and some use some type of RTV that seems a bit gooier. I never tried to put them back together, just interested in taking them apart after changing them. You may want to line up a new radiator in case it doesn't work out right. Don't want to be stranded without one, and can always return the new one.

Personally, I don't try to rejuvenate radiators any longer. They are relatively inexpensive ($100-$200) and that money for a new one is well spent.....
