Default Radiator hoses.

Does any know if there is a vendor somewhere in the country that still makes the xj lower hose with the coil spring In it to keep it from collapsing? I am in az and have checked just about all the parts house around here and the stealership and all say the same thing that they are made better so not to collapse.
Any ideas would be great that's.

Check out a video by Matt on Bleep in Jeep where he talks about this. It was something that was done at the factory, don't recall why. Think he also said new hoses are thick enough that they won't collapse. Gonna check mine after rig got hot coming up a mountain pass...

I took the old spring and installed it in the new hose. You may want to look in a salvage yard for an old hose that has a spring inside but I would recommend wearing some kind of throw away gloves. Old melted hose material is nasty.

Napa and car quest don't sell those? Call around here in Tucson. Here might be the closest big city to you

Default Lower hose spring

Will not find the spring at an auto store because it is not made or carried, or supplied with any hose.
The spring is there for the factories method of filling coolant. A machine pulls a vacuum on the cooling system, allowing coolant to flow through entire system without running engine.
It is safe to ditch the spring.

Just did my rad and hoses a few months ago. No spring in hose. Seems ok so far especially with the high heat we've had this summer. Mine were Dayco hoses.

The description from them reads: The inner base tube is reinforced with knitted rayon for maximum strength and burst resistance. On Rock Auto, none had springs mentioned. Checked MOPAR Part and OEM part number say "No longer available".

I recently researched this because I needed new hoses.
Some people reuse the spring, some people make a new one from a wire hanger, some people run without it entirely. There was a thread (don't recall if it was here or another forum) where someone contacted Gates. Their reply was due to better materials and manufacturing processes now there is no need for it.
I haven't installed mine yet, but I plan on just running without it.

IF the lower hose should collapse, than it means there is major blockage of coolant passages.
The water pump creates pressure/flow on the upper hose. Suction on lower hose is a byproduct.
Also, I do not have numbers but the suction made by water pump would be much less than the vacuum pressure used by Chrysler during the insertion of coolant.

Thx everyone. I do remember years ago I had a spring in the hose but did not reuse it. I have found most all the same answers as sll of you have posted as well. I will check the bleeping jeep thing.
I have not actually seen the hose collapse but trying to get thru an issue.
I really don't think there is a blockage due to the fact I replace wp with high flow one, new hoses, new t stat, new electric aux and fan clutch fans, new 3 core rad and flushed it 2 times.
If I drive under 45 ig runs 180 over that the temp climbs 220 to 240 when I sit at a light for a few or get back to under 45 it goes back to 180.
I bought the block head gasket tester and so far it is not showing a head leak. No water and oil mixed either.
Unless the new rad has something wrong internal
I still have the old one so may swap and see if the same issue persists.
Again thx for the fed back.

Water pump? Obstructed airflow due to clogged fins of AC condenser?

W/P water pump. Is a brand new hi flow hesco.
This issue only came up after new parts installed. Condenser is same and I can see thru it. The only reason I change all this stuff was it had been years and the W/P developed a leak. It was run like this before the new parts.
