Default Quick question: Should I grease my motor mounts before I put them in?

I am replacing engine and tranny mounts and was wondering if I should out a dab of grease on the interior of them to prevent squeaking. They are standard rubber mounts. Thanks!

On most 25+ year old Xs they are self lubricating over the first 1000 miles

Petroleum products tend to grade rubber over time, so no.

The motor mounts have a steel inner tube and steel shell bonded to the rubber, so lube would serve no function in that case anyway

standard rubber mounts should not be greased, as grease tends to ruin the rubber. Urethane mounts can be greased with silicone with no harm. urethane mounts do tend to squeek a bit, rubber not so much an issure

a small amount of antisieze can be used on bolt as it does not contact the rubber. this may help removal in future.
