Just bout a fairly clean 2000 XJ Classic. Had a lot of electrical issues that I've been able to fix until I got to the NSS code P0705. I've put four of them in and can't get the check engine light to stop coming back. Thing runs and trans shifts great. Starts every time, and I have reverse lights. The guy I bought it from sold it because he couldn't fix all the electrical problems it had so I can't get any info from him about where they bypassed the nss. Not at the harness connector and not at the relay. Where else should I look. My state requires emissions and they won't do it with a check engine light on. Desperately need help.
Damn, I would have stopped after replacing it the first time as new NSSs are not cheap. The wiring harness from the NSS comes up into the engine bay and there is a connector on the passenger side of the firewall. That might be where it was jumpered, and a good place to start chasing with a meter. There are actually two connectors there, a black and grey one, the other one is for the shift solenoids and looks like the picture below.
