Default Quick question from a new Cherokee Owner

I am a new owner of a 2001 Cherokee Sport. She drives great around town but if hovering around 2200 RPM when at 65 miles per hour. It sounds like it should kick down a little more. Can anyone confirm that this is normal or not? I do not want to adjust the kickdown if it is not necessary, at least until I get to know her a little better. Thanks for the info in advance.

Seems about right to me.

These things are geared pretty high so you'll be hitting high RPMs when at freeway speed.

They are supposed to run like that, but be extremely careful with your 2001. Watch that temperature gauge like a hawk, you have the 0331 Head with the casting defect. Don't want to overheat ever and crack the head.

How would I know if I have an 0331 head? What is the defect? Either way thanks for the tip!

The 0331 head was used on late 99-2001 XJ's if I remember correctly. There was a casting defect in them which made them VERY vulnerable to cracking between the 3-4 cylinders IIRC. Just for the love of all that is Jeeply, Dont Let That XJ Overheat lol.

Yep, the 0331 head came in all XJ's manufactured in the last few months of 99, but mostly '00 and '01 XJ's. Prone to cracking the head (Usually the left side of the head is where I've seen most if you're looking at it from the front) between cylinders 3-4. Just always make sure you've got coolant and that you're staying around your regular operating temp.
