I have also seen great results and some not-so-great results by introducing Seafoam into the engine.
However, there is NO risk in running a bottle of Seafoam in a tank of gas to clean the fuel system and help optimize the spray pattern of the fuel injectors.
The "stoddard solvent" in Seafoam is pretty darn good.

If you've kept up with reg mat which at 400K I'm sure you have. I wouldn't think you would have any problem seafoaming the oil. I don't see why putting it thought the tank and vac lines would cause any thing to leak. All putting it through the vac lines does is clean carbon off the valves. I'd say at least tank and lines your choice on the oil. Saying it will cause a leak on an old engine is like saying switching to Synth oil now will cause it to blow up.

Personally, I would be scared *****less to introduce anything to a 400k engine that it's not used to... I definitely wouln't mess with it now if it's not giving you any issues.
