Question about replacing a clock spring and not using the cruise
I been searching and have not been able to find the answer...
I have a 1999 XJ that I purchased not long ago with a non-operating horn, cruise and it also has the air bag light on. After doing quite a bit of reading here, I am 99% certain it's the clock spring. Also after doing parts searches I've noticed that new clock springs without cruise control are more readily available (aftermarket by Dorman) and much cheaper than those with cruise control.
The question I have is if I am not interested in my cruise working, can I use a new clock spring without the cruise?
Thanks!

If I remember correctly from doing my clockspring I think there's three separate wires coming from the clock spring, of which one is for the cruise. So theoretically you could install a clockspring without the cruise control, but I have personally never done it so there's no guarantees that it wont throw codes or even work at all. But it may be worth it in the long run to pay the extra for the clockspring with cruise control, better off if you sell it down the road
