i bought an 88 xj and the key wont work in the door locks!! is there seperate keys for the doors and ignition??

the person you bought it from probly made a spare key and thats what you have so it wont work inn the doors, thats what happened to one of my buddies

should i buy new locks? or could a locksmith make me a key that works??

i wouldnt buy new locks ide try the lock smith first and see what he says

My 87 has seperate keys. Although it could be from a po changing the ignition cylinder. I found the door key wedged in a small gap in the dash when I stripped it for parts. Glad I never locked the doors on it.

i have power locks but only one door works so i dint ever lock mine either

The locks on the 87 were manual. The pile of crap never ran so who the hell is going to steal it.

my 88 has separate keys square for the ignition and round for the door locks, but the only lock that works is the passenger side so i have to climb over to unlock the driver door which can be a pain with over 8" of lift and 35s

Id get a keyless entry and shave your key holes off and bondo and paint over them :P Easier than new keys LOL. But thats me.. that is actually what I plan on doing.
