I'd start with a decent set of 5.25"s... with a good tune you wouldn't want more bass.. alpines all the way!

iv done all regular door and sound bar and in the process my driverside doorpanle feel off completly and passenger door wont lock but fixed it but they sound ok upgraeding them later tho and mine came fact with 6in all the way around why would i go with thoses smaller 1s just wondering

sony xplods are trash so are duals, go with pioneer or mtx you can get those pretty cheap and there nice. kicker, rockford fosgate, JL, Alpine are also really good just pricey.

dual componte doors are trash i agree had them in sound bar and the tweet on the speaker came off so got a diff brand dont rember what they are tho

yeah, alpine is pricey.. but i've got a hookup
My sony P5 has been through hell and back.. and I bought it used! and it still hits very well. dual is good for holding down a stack of papers....

Built a sub box a number of years ago for my wrangler using a book from Radio shack detailing the math involved as far as enclosure size required for the speaker. I have'nt dug the book out to check, but with the small size of the cubby, I don't think it has enough space to truly give you what you would expect from an 8" sub. Sub needs to be enclosed in MDF, sealed, have batting and a port. By the time you do all that and fit it into the cubby, youd be talking a much smaller speaker than 8". Just my 2 cents based on experiance. I think you'd be better off with something else.
