I'm doing some brake work and thought about replacing the proportioning valve while I've got it all apart but running into an issue with the bracket. I have a new mopar valve that didn't come with a bracket and the old one seems pressed into the old valve. Does anyone know how you're supposed to transfer the bracket to the new valve?
See this is why I like the forums.
Never did one. Hope to never have to. Never would have occurred to me that it is set up like that.
But I treat this as a learning experience. LOL.
Scroll down a bit.
Looks like I just bend the fins back on the bottom to get the old one out of the bracket. Not sure how I'll use that same fin to seat the new one in but maybe that will be apparent once the old one is out.
I got the old one out of the bracket -- cleaned it up and repainted it. Now not sure the best way to seat the new one in the bracket? Super glue? Soldering it?
I replaced my proportioning valve not to long ago and it came with the bracket. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to come with the bracket. They may have sold you a damaged part.
Yeah definitely seen some online that looked like they came with a bracket, but none for my year. Doesn't look like the one I got from rock auto has been used. It's a Mopar brand: MOPAR 52008549 {#5083807AA} 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes; Exc. POLICE GROUP, which matches the part for my year.
You can use a center punch and stake it near the edges. That would spread the edge just enough to lock it in. The brake lines are all solid so they will hold the valve in place too.
Valve from Rockauto worked fine. Once all the hardlines are connected to the valve it is rock solid in place in the bracket, ain't going to move much, so I didn't even attach it with anything, it just sits perfectly in the bracket by the force of the brake lines.
