Default Prolly getting a XJ.

Im in the process of selling my wrangler right now, and when it's paid off i'll have about $5k max to spend on a XJ. What do you guys think I can get for around that price? The cheaper the better, and I dont want a piece-o-crap since this will be my daily driver. If it matters im in the mid-west... Thanks!

i would get a 97-99 with a c8.25 in the rear. that can easily be had for under 5k with right around 100k miles.

PS welcome to the XJ world.

I just did the same thing with my 00 TJ this recent summer. I went with a 00 xj sport with 8.25 and 80k miles for $9k. Take my word, you WILL miss the tj.

...but the xj is 10x better I do wish i got the two door cherokee though. Since i bought this, i opened the rear doors maybe like twice so far. I'm so used to not needing them.

if you can wait it out do it. i would settle for nothing less the a stock 98-up with no more then 100k. adjust for add-ons etc. if i where to buy again i would buy a two door stick.

and pre-welcome to the XJ club =]

I'd like to get a 98-99 with a little less than 100k on the clock. I think white is my first color choice but im not gonna be too picky. The only color I won't buy is green. Unless it's a deal I can't pass up....

I would definatly go with a 98 plus, I love the dash in the newer style's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they change to the low pinion D30 in 00?

What year did they go to the C8.25? Do you guys know of a good site that details the changes from year to year? I'm in the same boat as the original poster and looking for info.

The 8.25 I believe can be found in 89 and on through 01. They switched it to the stronger 29spl post 96.
