Default problem starting and dieing

Hey guys I'm new to the jeep world from the cummins world. I'm having some problems with a jeep I have had about a month. Its all stock other then the wheels, it is having problems starting and once it does start I have to feather the gas to keep it running. if it gets in a small strain like going over a speed bump it dies. I replaced the starter yesterday so its not that. I'm thinking fuel pump now. Any input would be great guys.

dumb question, but have you checked and made sure all your battery connections are tightened?

Yes terminals are in good shape and tight. I checked the battery, and terminals, oil, trans fluid, I replaced the starter, new air filter about two months ago.

Here's a little more info, I have narrowed it down to it only does this after I have drove it and it has warmed up. When I turn the key I can here the fuel pump kick on.

Check the fuel pump. Or have someone check it for you. You can find the psi online or in a repair manual. Seems like it should be about 50 or so. If the pump is running okay, check if yours has the ceramic resistor under the driver side of the hood, on the fender. If so, check the connections on that. I had one that would wiggle while driving and cause the fuel pump to shut off intermittently; that was on an '89 Renix, though. The pump would prime with 12v and run on a constant 6v. That resistor was where the 6v power source came from.

Im will go assuming you have a 98 because that's what your handle says.

No ballast resistors (12-6v) to worry about.

Sounds to me like you may have a loose connection.
only a few things will make your engine turn off.
CPS
Cam pos sensor
Of course power to the PCM

Check your grounds. Dont do like I did once. battery terminals looked clean and great but had a light glaze and it died in town for now reasons once in a while. Sometimes would re-start right away, sometimes not.
I was on the side of the highway, wife in jeep not happy, voltmeter in hand and it didn't make sense. so I said to myself. "back to basics" cleaned the battery terminals anyway, closed the hood and drove away never had a problem since. True story.

99% of electrical problems are bad grounds

Have you checked the iac ? Mine was getting stuck from carbon build up. It would start and start to sputter and die and It would also quit every once in a while at stop signs when I would let off the gas I replaced that and hasn't done it since .

Ok I will start double checking grounds grounds and terminal connections today. What's is a LAC?? Something new this morning or maybe I'm just now noticing it but when it won't start after driving it for awhile I will get small whiffs of gas, kind of like when you would flood an old carborator motor.

Check and clean the IAC( Idle Air Control) valve located on the throttle body. Also test your tps. Those are the two likely suspects. Most likely the IAC is the problem.

Ok here's a update sorry is taken so long to get back. I noticed my distributor making a clicking noise while trying to start it the other day and replaced it. No more clicking but didn't fix my current problem. I had the fuel pressure checked and it was within specs. It got to the point where the only way I could start it was by holding the gas pedal to the floor and turning the key and it will start after about the second or third time of doing that. It idles around 6-750RPM. I ran some sea foam through it today am now it starts like it should but still has low rpm and idles ruff.
