Default Problem getting into 4 low!!!!

I found out I have a NP242 TC where a NP231 use to be, my selector only goes 2HI, 4HI, N, 4LO on the console. So now I can get it in to 2HI, 4HI/PT, 4HI/FT, and N, but I cant pull it back far enough to get 4LO any suggestions on what should be done to achieve 4LO?

Mac

Not positive but whomever did this may have not taken the shifter and linkage for the 242 and just reused the 231 linkage, they may not be the same. Or you'll need to open up the hole that the shifter is in and locate a 242 shift cover.
But I would check that the linkage is adj. properly first.

I believe the linkage is from the 231, I though about cutting into the cover and shifter metal follower so that i could move the shifter back another inch or 2, was hoping there would be another way.

Bare minimum get the curved piece with the slots in it from a 242 Jeep. It's under the shift bezel.

No link. Under the shift bezel is the "rail " that you're looking for. self explanatory.

Oh ok i got ya, the one in there now has a notch on the left side, I think I might be able to just take that one out and cut some of the metal off the back of it, that would allow my shifter to go back another inch. if that fails, i have seen some ppl loose the Z linkage and make the simple link to the TC
