Default Prison Jeeps?

Short story..

I live in the middle of nowhere. I went riding around some roads I've not been down in years and maybe 1.5-2 miles from my house I see an xj catch my eye behind a ton of junk (burnt down mobile home and demolished mobile home off to the side)

I backed up and saw it was a 2 door... cool

noticed the writing and had a hard time making it out from the distance at first..

" Correctional Center "

I've been going around trying to find the land owner to attempt to purchase it in hopes of fixing it up or using it for parts.

I can't get closer than maybe 40 feet from it to get a good look at it but I did finally go back and leave a note rolled up and stuck in the padlock on the gate. I just hope he doesn't think I was out snooping around

anyways anyone know anything about these? I see it has a spotlight on it so I'm curious if it's a form of police package? also has some plain steelies.

Probably just a standard cherokee with the letters stenciled or stickered on the side. Might even have the child locks engaged...

no need for child locks on a 2 door :P

depending on condition and what all is wrong I'd be willing to swap parts from my 4-door on it.. but my 4dr is completely rust free.. and even then who knows what all is truly wrong with it... looking at it the plates are OLD style.. it's been sitting for quite a few years

if you can pick it up for the right place, go for it. Body panels alone are worth more than 700-800.

If it's been sitting in that tall grass all that time there's probably no floors or rockers left. Or frame, lol. Worst possible place to park long-term.

It's an 89 renix

Well its only grown up because his trailer burned dowm about a year ago. It was his hunting rig and yep indeed when sitting at the deer woods animals got into the bay and had a feast on wiring. (Not sure how bad )

I'm going to look at it tomorrow my note worked and he called me. Told me he'd have to get a new title for it but that he can get one. 500

if it's complete I think I'll take it for 500 if he can get the title.. in order for me to buy without a title (written bill of sale etc will have to obviously be included) it better have something I can really use... granted I can use a few things from it..

Kind of forgot that it could possibly be a 4-banger.. I hope not.

Probably just has the police package with the certified 120MPH speedometer, Extended Idle switch, and the spotlight. More common than you would think.

rotted out, and passed.

It DID have a roof rack.. "did"

had leather interior and vinal floor.. I'd of loved to have it when it was in good shape.. was really nice .. er.. "was"

anyways tore up seat broken interior door handles. headliner gone a good 1.5 square foot of the floor mat chewed out of the srivers side.

wiring was a mess but the injectors/wiring was replaced. but he said it didn't have any power when battery was hooked up.

also had a busted headlight/mirror and both rockers were ate up behind the doors.

it was at least a 4.0 auto. if it's sitting there in a few months I may offer him a couple hundred for it.
