Default Priming Oil Pimp

I replaced the rear seal and oil pan gasket. I had to remove the oil pump to do this. I got it all back together and removed the fuel pump relay to prime the oil system. I tried 5 ten second starts and the oil pressure is still at zero. The FSM says nothing about priming this but I thought it would be a good idea. Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.

Can u look in thru the oil fill hole to see if oil is pooled in a rocker after cranking? If so, oil has made it to the top, meaning the pump is primed, and good to go.

Crank it up and give it a little time. IT should build pressure within 30 seconds. Since this isn't a dry rebuilt engine there is enough residual oil to run it for a minute or two at idle. Look at this way...you don't prime your pump every time you change your oil. If it does not build pressure you will have to drop the pan to investigate why. An easy way to prime the pump if that is what you want to do is unscrew the filter and pour oil into the block via the inlet port (outer hole, not the center)
