Default preformance

I need help figuring out what I should do to improve torque, horsepower and all around performance, I live in AZ by lake havasu so there is a lot of whoops and invisible washes! I have a skyjacker lift on it with 30 inch BFG's. I also want a smoother ride! What suggestions do yu guys have for me? My name is Adam.

1... welcome to CF!
2... look into doing the injector swap to increase the overall performance of the jeep. Also look at upgrading your intake manifold to a newer intake. You can install a larger diameter throttle body to allow for more air intake. Other options you can consider is building a stroker engine. hope this helps.

What year is your jeep?

oh man there's a ton you can do, port and polish the head, lap the valves while you've got it off, port match a 99 intake (if your jeep is 98 or older), apn header, flowmaster 40 series muffler, high flow cat, big bore throttle body, neon injector upgrade, comp cams makes a few different extreme 4x4 cams for this motor. true cold air intake (meaning sealed off from the heat in the engine bay, taking only cold air in from outside the vehicle, like a snorkel).

www.strokedjeep.com has throttle bodies on an exchange basis. Have the "dent/crush" removed from your headpipe by having a new one made. The upgraded injectors would be good, mostly from a safety standpoint since your originals were prone to spraying gas on your exhaust manifold.

How does the 87 have that problem with the injectors?

The injectors on the Renix Jeeps were made by Siemens-Deka and were prone to developing splits in the injector body at a crimp, thus spraying fuel into the engine compartment.

to do the intake upgrade I meantioned you would need to upgrade to a 91-96 head as well. Which would pick you up some ponies also.

True, but only in the higher end of the RPM range. I've had excellent results by using 60mm throttle bodies, which are 2mm bigger than HO throttle bodies BTW, for $90 from www.strokedjeep.com. No intake change or head change needed and your TPS doesn't have to be adapted.

right... now consider that big bore throttle body... coupled with an HO head, 99 intake, port and polish, apn header, high flow cat, and a nice flowmaster 40...

I understand. I've built two HOs with match ported heads and manifolds, using late model exhaust manifolds, "crush" eliminated from the headpipe, Flowmaster, 60mm TB, High altitude CPS, high flow cat. Only I used the Renix intake manifold.
