Pre-Lift Questions
Ok so I am about to do the 3.5 RE. I have heard horror stories about the front bolt on the leaf spring. I am expecting the worst here. Any thoughts on what to do if the bolt breaks? Anything that I can do to prevent breakage? I am stressed about this a little and I need to calm myself. Any help would be appeciated.

Calm down ,there just nuts and bolts, spray down your hardware with pb blaster and let them soak for a day or so ,you will be fine.If they break just replace. Mines a 94 and I had no problems with them breaking. Just take your time and be patient.

PB blaster a week ahead of time on all of the bolts, everyday maybe even twice a day if you can.
other then that just take things one step at a time, if something breaks then work from there but there is no sense in worrying about anything before it has happened.

i guess i was just worried about how to get at the bolt inside the frame if it did break. Isn't it a pain to get at? I have heard of people cutting into the floor to get at it.

OK, got the lift on. No major problems except for the right front of the leaf spring. The collar inside the bushing was seized to the bolt. The spring had to be cut and the bushing melted off of the collar so we could split the collar open. Took about 8 hours all told.
Thanks for all of the advice!

A few shots. Sorry for the bad photography. I had to do it quickly before work.
She doesn't look much different, but it sits about an inch higher than before.
My neighbor's XJ aspiring to be like mine.
p.s. - the Surco with hi-lift mount is in the mail
