Power Window Laboring
1996 - Sport 4.0 - Just a quick note to say that my rear power window regulators were very slow to raise the windows. I opened up the right rear door and found the aft track was adjusted way too tight and putting a pinch on the edge of the glass. I loosened the 10mm bolt, moved the track slightly aft and re-tightened it. That made all the difference. For additional insurance I used an acid brush and powdered the channels with talcum powder. I repeated the exercise on the left door. No more strain on the motors.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! I've used PAM cooking spray on the window channels and door gaskets to keep them from freezing.

I got this 1996 second hand, but by all appearances I'm the first person to get inside the doors since it was factory new. The forward track, closest to the hinge side, is fixed (not adjustable from what I could see). The aft track mounting flange butts against a flange spot-welded to the door structure. The spot-welded flange hole for the 10mm bolt is elongated to allow adjustment. It appeared to be moved fully forward in the direction that would snug the window edges between both tracks and cause excessive drag, which was happening. BTW, if anyone gets into their doors and busts the retainers for the decorative inside door panel, the Dorman replacement plastic fastener part number is 963-221D.

I think I have a similar problem as the OP only different. My front passenger window will not go up or down on its own. Only if I push with my hand so I know the power is there and the motor works. Unless I guide the window evenly the top forward corner of the window tends to slightly dip into the track as if the alignment of the window is going out of square. I looked at the track and it was adjusted all the way out so I adjusted it all the way in. I think it helped slightly but it still needs help going up and down but it could have been my optimistic imagination.
I tried squeezing graphite powder behind the rubber molding at the top but I don't know if it got into the track and it didn't seem to help. I also tried some WD40 from both the top and bottom but still no love. When I put my finger n the lower portion of the track the felt like material (for lack of a better word) started to crumble so it must be dry and brittle.
So anyway, that's where I'm at. Any suggestions or guidance?
