Went wheeling yesterday, no real issues until now, the power steering would start to progressively whine worse the more often I turned the wheels to lock to make sharp turns. A few times the week before it would will scream sometimes on startup, fixed by turning the engine off and on again. Fluid was full, pressure line is under two years, pump is under 6 months. Eventually it got to the point where I turned to/near lock and power steering failed outright. Not good 50 miles out in nowhere.. P/S fluid all over engine bay and under. No line ruptures, looked like it spewed from the reservoir cap. With engine running I had a friend muscle the wheel I could see fluid raise and lower with significant bubbling, eventually stopped bubbling and lowering and would just overflow. Pulley was spinning fine, no alarming noises, it was just dead. Shut the engine off, pulled the pressure line to check for obstructions, none. Sat for about 20 minutes, turned it back on, still no steering, gave the wheel a good pull and it came back to life. Sounds to me like it could be sucking air and building it up until it locks. Thoughts?
