Power Steering Pump Pully
I just bought a 1998. Owned a 2001 in the past. Anyway putting in a new radiator, belt, and idler pulley and noticed this crack in the power steering pump pulley. Is this normal? Do I need a new power steering pump? The pulley looks like it is pressed on not a bolt on.

The pump shaft has a 3/8" hex in the center. The pulley doesn't just screw off i don't think. I just checked the local salvage yard, online. They have a pump for $40. I assume it comes with the pulley. I may just do that since "town" is 30 miles away. ie. multiple trips.

Your pulley is fine!
That is not a crack. It is made with that groove there.
A lot of P/S pulleys I have seen are made like that from the factory.
I believe most, if not all OE metal pulleys have this groove.
I don't think the plastic pulleys have it.

Here's my '96
If you look closely at how the metal pulley is made, the grooved part is actually a strip that is added to the pulley hub. The "Crack" is actually the gap where the two ends of the strip meet.

that should not be there. I have worked on cars for years. That needs to be replaced. It will chew up a belt. Go to a parts store and look at a new pulley. It won't have that crack.

Nonsense! All the ones I have seen have this groove
Go check your factory pulley? If it's metal, I guarantee it will have the gap. It's how they are made.
The new ones at the parts store are not made the same. They are molded plastic.
