Power steering pulley with a cut in it?
Had to replace my belt yesterday, and while doing so noticed this cut in the power steering pump pulley... Has to be a cut or a factory joint that just expanded, it's too straight to be anything else, and I don't know why anyone would take a circular saw to the pulley, so I assumed it was a joint that just expanded over time.
My belt has a 3 year warranty, so if the gap chews up my belt, I'll go get a replacement belt under warranty, and spend the $13 for a new pulley.
Just wondering of this joint is an acceptable normal thing, a bad normal thing, or the product of a stupid previous owner...?
Ya' know, like the electrical-taped fog lights and the cross-threaded oil plug.

My pulley did the exact same split, got a new pulley cause it was tearing up the inside of the belt. The bearings were shot and I'm guessing the heat from the friction expanded the pulley.
This pulley isn't the easiest thing in the world to change, several curse words will be uttered before completion but keep at it.

Figured I'd wait and see if it tore the belt up, which isn't that big of a deal as the belt's got a 3-year warranty. Guess when the belt's torn up, I'll replace the pulley.
I guess taking off the electric fan is pretty much necessary, huh?
Sounds like a load of fun...

I came across the same 'cut' in my PS pulley recently, and thought it had cracked (belt still on there, but you could see it at the side). It hasn't done anything to the belt, so I will leave it for now. If the pulley starts to make noise, well, then its probably time to change the pulley then.
