lol that button changes the shift pattern of your trans. comfort makes your trans shift soft and shift sooner. power has firmer shifts and will kick down faster. hope that helps

it came on jeeps with the towing package from what i understand, my jeep has it as well i have noticed when i run it in power i get higher RPM's and harder shifts, my assumption for this is for when you are towing, because it is harder for you jeep to get to speed, i sure do like power though haha makes the jeep **** and get in comparison to comfort.

I have that switch on my '87 Pioneer, haven't had a chance to play with it much though I think it's been set to 'comfort' and the shifts seem pretty slow. Any reason I can't just leave it set to 'power'?

I have it on my 87 you can leave it on power but you will pay for it in gas, but if your anything like me having the ability to roast the rear tires with no problem is well worth it (between my long tube headers larger injectors, cat free exaust
, I get around 9 mpg if I'm fairly nice to the gas pedal)

mine has been on power since i got my 90 and ive had no problems with it, i really dislike the comfort setting as it is a pain to get it to down shift so i just keep in power mode

I know this thread is a couple months old but I was searching for some help, I was driving my 90' Limited in Power Mode and it switched off on its own and will not engage again. Is there a relay or something that might have popped?

Just so you are aware the "power" setting is what every jeep is set to that does not come with the switch. the "comfort" button elongates the shift points and actually causes more wear.

yep... and the longer smother shifts are the reason that Cadilacs only got around 50-75l miles out of a transmission back in the day

Sharp shifts are better for the tranny as stated above. I remember test driving new Jeeps with my dad that had this button. Glad you guys brought it up. Thought I might have imagined it.
Anyone remember when the old colt turbos had the power switch on the shifter?
