Hey everyone. I've got a 98 XJ that I've had for a few months and I just got a roof basket for it for Christmas. It mounts to the cross bars but they are too far apart right now. The roof basket is smaller and doesn't reach the whole way from the front to the rear of the roof, which is where the cross bars are now.
Is it possible for me to move the rear cross bar forward to fit the roof basket? I was doing some research but haven't really found a solid answer about this. Thanks in advance!

On the cross bar ends there is a rectangle button. If you're lucky it'll press in and allow it to slide across. If you're unlucky like me, all 4 will be broken.

Broken or gunked up and immobile from disuse. If that's the case, some penetrating oil and patience will do the trick.

My friend likes it when people tell him they could not get something off.
He just replies "Cause you did not use a big enough hammer."
