www.kelleyswip.com/price.html. I have lengths listed for the XJ with the 6-242, beginning to end. I do sell them as well, if you want something better than what you can find locally...

Can you buy a precut and terminated battery cable set at the auto parts store or are they dealer parts only? Mine are looking a little shabby.

Yeah ... 5-90's website is awesome, and I can vouch for his style of cables. I made a pair like his 6 years ago ... basically took his idea and made them. That was 6 years ago, and they are sweet. The brass clamps are so much better than lead ... corrosion free. And the heavy welder's cables make a huge difference. If I were to do it over again, I would just buy his ... he has it dialed in perfectly, and I didn't save much $$ by doing it myself.

And while we're on the subject ... if you ever need to replace your battery, go with a group 42 size for drop-in replacement. The group 42 has more Cold Cranking amps and more Reserve Capacity than the stock group 58. It's the same price ... and drops right in with no mods.

If you want to go even bigger, get a group 65 battery ... that has even more CCAs and more Reserve Capacity because it has larger (and more) plates. You'll need to cut the end lips off your plastic battery tray, and spread out your hold-down bracket a hair, but other than that, it's a perfect fit.

These differences in group sizes are true of all battery brands. Group 65 is always the "most" battery.

The main selling point for me was was the larger Reserve Capacity. Let's say you leave your headlights on for several hours and drain 20 amp-hours from your battery. If your reserve capacity is only 40 amp-hours, you've run your battery down to 1/2 of it's capacity, which is not good for a "starting" style of battery. If your reserve capacity is 60 amp-hours, then you've only run it down to 2/3 of it's capacity, which is much less damaging. Because of that, the bigger battery will be more dependable and longer-lasting.

Hope this helps.

They can be had at the local - probably be a "closest fit" situation, tho. (Read: They probably won't have your exact length you need. If you need a 16" cable, for instance, they may only have an 18" or 20" you can use. So, you get the one closest to you.

(All of the measurements I have listed are taken directly from OEM cables, so they're pretty damned close!)
