Pull the wheel off, probably bad cv axle/u-joint or control arm bushing maybe.
Not a mechanic but with the wheel off you can get a good look and that usually narrows down the culprit

im a certified suspension tech..but i dont know everything but things like a broken axle u joint will do that bad wheel bearings get both front tires off the ground and shake it down check for any unusual play the should be zero up and down zero in and out and just tiny bit left and right to account steering slop and check u joints/axles

I was having the same problem and I didn't know what it was until I was pulling into Friendly's and heard a loud pop. The loud pop was the last bolt snapping off that connected the steering box to the frame.

i had the same problem, and i fixed it by replacing the bushings on the control arms. a good way to find out of that is the culprit is to borrow a grease gun and fill those bad boys up. if the noise stops, you found your problem and the bushings need to be replaced. you should also see grease oozing out of the bushings after filling them and driving for a while. mine were so bad that all of the grease came out and hit the wheel while i was driving and splattered all the way down my rig.

I laso have this issue with my XJ. Though I thought it to be the TREs. I replaced those and that wasn't it. Mine pops when I turn into a place and drive through the gutter, seems like that little bump in the corner sets it off. Also happens when I turn my wheel when the truck isn't moving, it'll pop if i turn it real far...

Mine does pop a lot when turning the wheels, stopped or moving... I have narrowed it down now to the ball joints but it will have to go a bit longer as it is my DD
